How interior wrapping works
Removable trim is unclipped and wrapped on the bench so every edge is wrapped and tucked, which is what separates a clean job from a peeling one. Fixed surfaces like the dash top are wrapped in place with a heat gun to conform the film into recesses, and relief cuts are hidden in existing seams. Surfaces are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, and low-energy plastics get a coat of adhesion promoter before the film goes down.
Choosing the right film
Cast architectural films such as 3M DI-NOC, Cover Styl and Belbien are built for interiors: they are thin, highly conformable, and rated for the heat and UV a cabin sees through glass. Wood grain and brushed metal read as factory upgrades, carbon fiber and forged carbon suit sport interiors, and piano black or leather grain are the go-to fixes for scratched OEM trim. Avoid thick exterior chrome and textured wraps on touch points, they lift at the edges.

What film is used for interior wrapping?
Interiors are wrapped with cast architectural film such as 3M DI-NOC, Cover Styl or Belbien, or thin cast vinyl like 3M 1080 and Avery SW900 for accents. These films conform to tight curves, handle heat cycling on the dash, and come in wood grain, brushed metal, carbon fiber, leather, marble and piano-black finishes.
Can you wrap a car dashboard and trim?
Yes. Removable trim (vent surrounds, shifter bezels, door pulls) is taken out and wrapped on the bench for clean wrapped edges. Fixed dash tops are wrapped in place with relief cuts hidden in seams. Airbag covers should be left untouched or handled by a specialist.
How long does interior trim wrap last?
Cast interior film lasts 5 to 10 years indoors. UV exposure through glass and constant touch on the shifter and door pulls are the usual wear points, so those pieces are the first to be refreshed.
Does interior wrap damage the original trim?
No. Properly installed cast film with a low-tack to medium-tack adhesive removes cleanly with heat and leaves the OEM piece intact, which is why leased vehicles are often wrapped rather than repainted.
